BEHAVIOUR
Assessment & treatment programs for dogs with aggression & separation distress

Assessment
Comprehensive assessment of your dog’s problem behaviour
This begins on the phone where we can cover some details of the problem you are having with your dog, discuss your dog’s medical and adoption history diet and daily routine. Our first appointment our initial phone conversation there will need to be a 2 or occasionally 3 hour consultation at your home, and depending on your reported issues could involve us taking your dog out for a short walk to get a fuller picture of your dog’s behaviour outdoors and potentially witness the problem behaviour for myself.
We will then discuss your dog’s behaviour, likely prognosis, and discuss the training and management you would need to implement.

Treatment
Detailed training plan and treatment program
We will have a chance to discuss your dog’s behaviour and what can be done about it, and agree on a course of action that best fits with your household: there’s just no point having someone drop in, doll out some advice and leave if you are just not happy with it. Once agreed, I can provide you with a detailed written report, usually within 24hours, outlining all the advice and training we will be have covered during our initial consultation.

Tuition
Hands-on tuition for your behaviour adjustment program
You will receive hands-on instruction on the techniques you’ll need to rehabilitate your dog during our first appointment, so that you can get started on modifying your dog’s behaviour from day one. I will any additional advice, such as dietary change, management advice, or any other information that might help improve your chances of successful rehabilitation.

Support
Full Behaviour Consultation and first follow-up session £250
Follow-up sessions & support
You receive one follow-up session to give me a chance to see how the training is going and discuss any changes or problems you might have experienced since the first session. The follow-up is essential for me to assess the efficacy of the treatment program and to make any adjustments that might be necessary. I find it reassuring and I believe clients find it useful to go over anything
Rehabilitation takes time and patients and it is important to note not every dog can be transformed into approachable friendly dogs. But almost every dog’s behaviour can be improved by helping the dog feel more comfortable with whatever is causing him or her anxiety in the first place.
Although you may find further sessions usefulI, I will continue to be available for telephone and email support in any, so please be assured, the support doesn’t disappear once the training sessions have ended.

What others are saying …
Brenda. Twickenham.
“With Paul’s advice of kindness, positive reinforcement and avoiding situations where she wouldn’t be set up to fail which he also wrote up in an in depth report, over a few months she has become almost perfect. I’m very proud of her bravery and so grateful to Paul for guiding me to understand her problem as I nearly felt I had to return her to the Charity. She is a joy and loves to play now with other new dogs (apart from Border Collies)…I can’t thank Paul enough, especially for going the extra mile.”

“Paul helped us better understand our complex Jack Russell, called Herb. Paul had a lovely way to interact with us and our dog. Very supportive with follow up advice after our consultations together. It does appear how it is not so much the dog’s problem dogs as much as issues with ourselves and guiding us in a way that corrects behaviour as opposed to perpetuating the difficulties we had been experiencing. Still a way to go yet, but as Paul says as long as there is progress that is all we can ask for. Thanks so much for helping us improve our relationship with Herb.”

“Paul was a wonderfully calming and reassuring person to have in our lives during the first few weeks after Dot joined our family. Before we had even met for our first arranged session I called him in a panic not knowing what to do with a puppy who managed to escape from both her crate and playpen! This was not the first of such calls and we talked about everything from housetraining, meal times to how to stop her eating stones. During the 3 one to one sessions we had Paul appeared to achieve the impossible and Dot was sitting, lying, coming when called etc. He also joined us for our first walk to the park which made the whole experience enjoyable and positive rather than stressful. The sessions were all followed up with clear notes tailored to Dot and suggesting next steps. Dot is now 4 months old and has settled brilliantly. Looking back the first few weeks were daunting but the sessions/calls with Paul really helped keep us all calm and he went out of his way to reassure and advise us on what to do and how. It goes without saying that Dot also thought he was great as he arrived with a bag full of chicken every time! Thank you so much Paul for all your help”.

Thanks so much for your help and support and for your notes, they are really helpful.
Without doubt she’s improved, we went back to the railway end of the park today and the only thing which caused her any problems was a cyclist!! but that was my fault for not paying attention and moving her away in time to do your safe space counterconditioning.
Your advice has been really invaluable and I know we have some way to go but it does feel as though she’s getting easier each day.
